The Desi Geestman Foundation (DGF) is a non-profit California corporation. The IRS has certified DGF as a tax-exempt 501c3 charity, which means that all donations made to DGF are tax exempt to the donor to the maximum amount permitted by law.


The following are additional examples of support:

  • $5,000 pays for three months of overdue rent for a critically ill child and their family facing eviction.
  • $2500 resolves an emergency transportation problem (car repair, airline tickets to bring a grandparent to care for the healthy siblings, transportation service during radiation/chemotherapy.
  • $1250 pays the costs for a family that must relocate to improved surroundings due to the child’s compromised immune system.
  • $1,000 pays the burial cost for a child.
  • $500 pays for a month of groceries for a family that has exhausted all options.
  • $350 pays for a month of utilities (water, gas, electricity, phone) for a family whose single parent has lost his/her job while caring for a child with a life-threatening illness
  • $100 can be used to enhance a child’s life in the midst of treatment in a variety of significant way (a therapeutic massage, special clothing, toys/art/music, a special outing with the family, or a prescription/prosthesis not covered by insurance).
  • $25 can provide 5 meal vouchers for the parent to eat at the hospital while caring for their child.
