To All Our Helping Hands:

Since this is the time of year when we commemorate friendship and love, I thought we would devote a few lines to those who mean so much to the Desi Geestman Foundation: our supporters and volunteers. It is our sincere hope that this letter finds you and your loved ones healthy and prosperous.

Prospering is usually associated with financial wealth, yet it need not be exclusively so. A phrase attributed to Ernest Watson is prominently displayed in our office to remind us: "Wealth is the possession of whatever gives us happiness, contentment, or a sense of significance." A child's smile, a friend's embrace, the feeling of a job well done. The certainty of knowing that something good just happened. This is what the Desi Geestman Foundation offers our supporters and volunteers.

Our supporters and volunteers are very special people. We sometimes perform very difficult work that can sometimes test our strength and our beliefs yet we become better human beings and are all very "wealthy" for being involved.
