What can I say about my special friend

and angel, Paul....  He not only touched

my life and the life of so many; he

inspired me to be a better person. 

From the moment I met Paul at

City of Hope over seven years ago, I

felt his beautiful being and soul. 

There are no words to describe his kind

and loving nature,his voice, and his

beautiful smile.  He was so brave,

pure and so full of life...

Cancer touches so many children. 

He cared so much for the other

children and was always making

sure that everyone was taken

care of, especially his devoted

and loving mother, Leoni.  The

two were one in this

"cancer journey".

The picture at the top right corner

is Paul on his 18th birthday having

fun in his first trip to the snow at

Big Bear.  Below are a few

memories of the years I had the

honor of knowing and sharing

time with Paul. 

He will always be in my heart

and my inspiration to continue

the mission of creating a better

quality of life for children suffering

from cancer and their families.

Favorite Memory....

That’s Paul with Ileana Geestman at

a special Halloween party for the

children at City of Hope.  When Ileana

first walked into Paul’s room of white

sheets, bare walls, medication and an

IV pole, she couldn’t help but notice

the bright smile that radiated from

his face.  Paul told Ileana of his love

for music and began to sing a Whitney

Houston song,“Greatest Love of All ”.

When it was time for her to leave, Paul

sat up in his bed and reached up to

hug Ileana.  Although he has only one

arm to hug with, it was the

best hug Ileana ever received.
